Montessori Toys for 3 Year Olds
Three is the age of doing it alone. A three year old wants a job with a beginning and an end, and they want to finish it without being corrected halfway through. The toys that work at this age are the ones that tell a child themselves whether it is right, so nobody has to.

Sorted by what they are working on
- Numbers and sorting. The wooden fishing game has fifty one numbered fish in several colours, so it gets sorted and lined up as often as it gets played.
- Shapes and logic. The wooden brain puzzle has one slot per piece, so the board answers before an adult does.
- Telling stories. A felt story book with pieces that lift off means the same page runs differently every time it is opened.

Younger, or nearly four
